Aikido

Aikido is a non-competitive Japanese martial art that aims to resolve conflict between attacker and defender. Through dedicated practice, a student will learn how to take a fall, deliver a strong attack and blend with an opponent.

Although aikido can be described as kata (a predetermined encounter), each attack and defense must be practiced as if neither participant knows how the encounter will end.

Weapons

With the use of a bokken (wooden sword) and a jyo (wooden spear), weapons training deepens the student’s understanding of Aikido and is an integral part of training.

A student may join weapons class at the chief instructor’s discretion.

Zen

As we sit in stillness and silence, we begin to see our own inner workings. The more we see, the more free we become. A rigorous practice in its own regard, Zen gives us a glimpse into our true nature and brings the “self” and the “other” together.
